**There will be music and drinks for the opening on Thursday the 9th of September from 19:00 onwards.

The exhibition will feature unreleased works from the past years and thematically deals with the decade of the 1960s, an epoque marked by social upheaval, misty-eyed romantic and strong contradictions. The artist visually approaches this legendary decade, aiming to interpret it from a contemporary point of view, asking the question if there is any countermovement in our society today.

Reissig has developed a distinctive style implementing playful as well as formal graphic elements in his works, showing depth and reflectiveness in his subject matter. When asked how he would describe his work without using the actual term “art” he refers to it as “NonHippiePsychedelia”.

We have already produced a first serie of photographies that were shown a couple weeks ago at BRIGHT. Those come from Lisa’s works in Las Vegas earlier this year and have not been published anywhere else so far.

” I came to Vegas with thoughts of a sparkling, crowded, glorious sinful city, to colourful lights. But all I saw where empty streets. I met a philipine priest and an old man in a wheel chair driving in the middle of the highway. I put myself in disguise as to be someone else. I walked around in Sin City in the middle of the desert and then on the last day it snowed. In the desert / me and my holy friend.” Lisa Wassmann

From sleeping in cars, to getting tarred and feathered in the desert Lisa Wassmann shows us her beautiful pictures from her all American roadtrip.

Dazed Digital: What’s your background as a photographer?

Lisa Wassman: I started six years ago taking pictures in clubs around Berlin and creating shots with my friends. I was more into painting before that, but wasn´t really into being alone by myself sitting on an artwork for a couple of days.

DD: Are you inspired by any particular films? Art? Literature?

Lisa Wassman: I love old paintings, especially symbolism. I love Michael Ende´s Neverending Story, movie and book. A Million Little Pieces, Karen Duve, Chris Cunningham, Björk, Martin de Thurah, Arnold Böcklin, Princess Mononoke, Blade Runner, Some Like It Hot… But I get most of my inspirations by looking through old stuff from flea markets like photographs, magazines and paintings.

DD: What about other photographers?

Lisa Wassman: Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Ryan McGinley.

DD: What is your connection to Texas. Was this a roadtrip?

Lisa Wassman: I´m born and raised in Berlin, but I grew up in the west part, so I had the chance to watch a lot of American movies and read ‘Lucky Luke’. From far away, Texas was always the place with cowboys, horses, ranches, conservative / religious thinking, typical American food, a red desert and a blue sky. I immediately had the idea to tar and feather somebody and shoot this in the desert… don´t ask me why. And yeah it was a roadtrip we rented a car and slept in it the whole time. I think we went everywhere.

DD: What inspired this series?

Lisa Wassman: Of course my very close friend Caro Paris who joined me, and all the people I met during the trip.

Most picture ideas came up while I was driving. The colours, the lightning everything looked so different…

DD: How long did it take you to create?

Lisa Wassman: We stayed in Texas for three weeks.

DD: There is an interesting mix of constructed images, and others that seem more spare of the moment. Did you construct the whole series?

Lisa Wassman: The only image I certainly wanted to create from the beginning was the tarred and feathered picture

which I did one day before we had to leave. I am a very constructed artist but not in advance because I am very impatient.

Peachbeach is a fraternity composed of three reconverted bad boys who decided to settle in Berlin and enjoy its vibrancy and dazzling cosmopolitan colours. The three young artists aim at fusing their different backgrounds and creative approaches in one edgy mix of strong illustration, sensitive typography style and an ironic vision of social etiquette and games.

Peachbeach Attila Szamosi, Falk Hoger and Lars Wunderlich have, since their troubled teenage-hood, come a long way with their collective and diversified their art and activities from graffiti to design, painting, branding and even charity at the Operation Tirana in May 2010 in collaboration with Mazine. The collective strives at connecting the plurality of minds and skills, combining different synergies and outlooks to inspire every-day life.

The show’s name Welcome to the Peachbeach was inspired by Las Vegas giant neon signs from the 70s and will feature paintings on canvas, wooden panels, illustration on posters, graphics on skateboards and more: in brief, Street Art in all shapes and sizes!

For a wide variety of brands Bright offers a product-related chance for presentation, its unique concept guarantees a maximum of image and identity. The individual location as well as the product-orientated framework, consisting of an innovative contest/artist program, support the characteristically atmosphere of the off-show. Skateboard culture and the relating side-events (artist shows & nightlife) are important features of the tradeshow; still the commercial aspect takes a primary position. With its concept the Bright tradeshow offers a very positive and comfortable atmosphere without neglecting the function as an interface between distribution and retail.

For those who wonder what’s the vector lounge about: it’s a live One-on-One Graphic Design Jam/Battle, held simultaneously in 2 different locations: here at West Berlin Gallery in Berlin and at le Café Dune in Paris vs. Berlin. The concept is simple each city has a team of graphic designers, illustrators or web designers working live on a digital artwork.

The working process from both locations on the screen can be viewed by the audience via projection and will be streamed live online (follow our twitter & facebook during the event to get the live updates). The designers get 30 minutes for the finalization of their artwork and battle one-on-one, Paris vs Berlin, on a given topic. The theme will be announced next monday.
